Voelker 21 yrs old, son of Mr and Mrs Samuel Voelker, Bad Axe, died in Germany April 9. Pfc Archie S. Voelker Dies in Germany Mr and Mrs Sam Voelker, 505 E. Huron Ave, Bax Axe, were notified by the war dept last Thursday that their son, Pfc Archie S. Voelker, died in Germany on April 9. Following is the telegram which they received: "The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that you son, Pfc. Archie S. Voelker, died in Germany April 9, 1945. Confirmed letter follows." It was signed by J. A. Ulio, the Adjutant General. Archie was born in Owendale January 8, 1924. He graduated from Bad Axe Hight School in 1941 and was well know here. Following his graduation he worked at the Huron Milling Co in Harbor Beach until he entered the Armed Forces in March, 1942. He was in an Engineering Corps and after being home on furlough last October, he went overseas in that month. In a letter received a few days ago, which was dated April 2, he told of entering Germany on April 1, eight days before he died. Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Lester at Mt. Pleasant and Henry Adam at Wajamega; and two sisters, Beulah Mae in Detroit and Marie at home. Memorial services, attened by Sherman-Elvin post No. 96 American Legion, were conducted by Rev. Charles A. Roark in Sacred Heart Cath ch this morning. dz
