Warchock July 12, 1923 – June 8, 2011 Ernest J. Warchock, 87, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe, with his family by his side. He was born July 12, 1923 in Parisville, to the late Mathew and Stazy (Alant) Warchock. On September 9, 1950 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Sitek at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hamtramck. Ernest served in the U.S. Navy from May 21, 1943 to March 22, 1946 as a Naval Fireman with the rank of First Class. He then attended the Michigan Technical Institute in Detroit and graduated in 1949 with an electrical degree and was employed at Dana Corporation for 33 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Bad Axe Sacred Heart Catholic Church, active in the Knights of Columbus and the Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club. He participated in helping the St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Boys Town in Omaha, Neb., and the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor; his children, John (Cindy) Warchock of Northville, Cynthia (David) Kent of Rochester Hills and Marie (Jim) Free of Lexington, Ohio; grandchildren, Evan Free and Gabriel Dascenzo; a sister, Dorothy Johnson of Port Huron; several nieces and nephews. Ernest was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Warchock; two sisters, Monica Fisher and Lucille Fitzgerald. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011 from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, with Fr. Robert Howe, Pastor officiating. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the MacAlpine Mac Chapel in Bad Axe. A morning visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Scripture Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening. Memorials may be offered to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennesse 38188-0142.
