He was born July 18, 1927, in Dwight Township, to the late George and Sophia (Sosnoski) Watchowski. Ernie was united in marriage to Virginia (Lackowski) Watchowski on August 27, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parisville. He drove semi-truck for St. Louis Freight Lines and Drave’s Distributing. He was an independent contractor for Texas Refinery Corporation of Fort Worth, Texas. Ernie was a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree assembly, where he was also an honorary life member. H e was a member of Grindstone Sportsman Club of Port Hope. Ernie enjoyed dancing, camping, and being with family. Ernie is survived by his wife, Virginia of Bad Axe; four daughters, Debra (Douglas) Keyworth of Elkton, Pamela (Robert) Linton of Citrus Springs, Florida, Sharon Sweet of Grand Rapids, Nancy (James) Long of Fairgrove; one son, Curtis (Lynda) Watchowski of Ubly; one sister, Patricia Paul of Sault Ste Marie; two nieces, Kathy (Charlie) Albon and DeLynn Paul of Sault Ste Marie; 10 grandchildren, Scott (Shelly) Keyworth of Caro, Jill (Jason) Stein of Harbor Beach, Rochelle Keyworth of Elkton, Nathan (Janene) Neal of Bunell, Florida, Beth Sweet of San Francisco, California, Amy Sweet of Chicago, Illinois, Melissa and Ryan Long of Fairgrove, Brandon Watchowski of Big Rapids, Jonathan Watchowski of Ubly; six great-grandchildren, Laura, Cole, Tori, Kirsten, Blake and Natalie. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Scripture service will be at 7 p.m. followed at 7:30 p.m. a Knights of Columbus Rosary. Memorials may be offered to family discretionary fund.
