Elaine (Messing) Welsh
November 5, 1967 - July 16, 2019
Elaine Welsh 51, passed away peacefully, July 16, 2019, in the comfort of her 
home, due to complications of life-long health issues.  She was born November 5, 
1967, in Almont the daughter of the late Marcus and Bernice (Roberts) Messing.  
Elaine devoted her life to taking care of people.  She had the gift of service 
and was happiest when she felt needed.  Her most treasured titles included 
Mother, Grandma Falala, and Nurse.  After raising her children and conquering 
cancer, she pursued her passion, completed her education and became a Licensed 
Practical Nurse.  She spent the previous six years caring for the sick and 
elderly and enjoying her growing family.  She loved popcorn, rocking, coloring, 
walking, canning, playing catch with the dogs, swinging, and floating in the 
water.  She was a grand gift giver and could make a mean pot roast.  Her hands 
were rarely still.  Even when times were tough, she would cook up a big pot of 
soup and share it.

Surviving are three children and their spouses, Victoria (Kris) Burns of Clyde, 
Aaron (Alisha) Welsh of Columbus, and Tyler Welsh of Croswell; three 
grandchildren, Mackenzie, Willow and Kanon Burns; sisters, Deanna (Gary) Bolsby, 
Carolyn Spangenberg, Jennifer Messing, Linda (Keith) Dylus, Ruth Ann Messing, 
and Annette (Gary) Vanlerberghe; brothers, Clifford Messing, Anthony (Linda) 
Messing, and Frank (Susan) Messing; former husband John Welsh Jr., loving dog 
“Sony”, and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  
Preceding her in death is a brother Marvin Messing.

The family honors the memory of Elaine and invites you to visit and share 
memories Sunday, July 21, 2019, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, July 22 from 
4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale.  Rite of Christian Burial 
will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale, with 
9:00 a.m. visiting at the funeral home.  Fr. Tom Kuehnemund, pastor, will 
officiate.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peck.  Published Times Herald
