He was pinned beneath the tractor. He died of a crushed skill. Sgt. John C. Carstensen, who investigated, reported the mishap occurred about 5 p.m. as the young man was returning the tractor he had borrowed from a neighbor to work his fields. The tractor was owned by Robert Becking. Sgt Carstensen said Wolschlager was driving north on Barrie Rd and attempted to turn west on McKinsey Rd. He apparently turned too sharply and the tractor upset and rolled over into the ditch. The mishap occurred three miles southwest of Bad Axe. Coroner Alden A MacAlpine assisted in the investigation. It is the 13th highway fatality of the year in Huron County. Elmer was born February 1, 1930 in Sheridan Township. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Wolschalger, five brothers: Joseph of Bad Axe; Maurice, Detroit; Charles Jr., Detroit; John and Henry at home. Four sisters: Miss Dorothy Wolschlager, Mrs. Helen (Lester) McIntosh, Miss Grace Wolschlager, Detroit; Miss Erma Wolschlager at home. The remains are in the home. Funeral services will be held Monday from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Charles Roark will conduct the Requiem High Mass. Burial will be in Colfax cemetery. 2nd article Killed as Tractor Overturns Bad Axe, August 17, 1951 -- Elmer F. Wolschlager, 21 year old farmer, was instantly killed Thursday afternoon when a tractor upset at McKenzie and Barrie Rds. Sgt John C. Carstensen and Coroner Alden A MacAlpine, who investigated, said Wolschlager was attempting to turn the corner from Barrie to McKenzie roads when the tractor upset into a deep ditch, throwing the driver into the ditch and rolling on him. Wolschlager was the 13th traffic fatality of 1951 in Huron County.
