Lorraine Marie (Messing) Wolschlager October 14, 1941 - February 23, 2025 Lorraine Marie Wolschlager, age 83, of Sheridan Township, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, aunt and friend, was gathered into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 23, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 14, 1941, in Ruth, daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Ulfig) Messing, and was big sister to Gary, Linus, Clifford, Linda and Sharon. Lorraine attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic School and graduated class of 1959. Lorraine married Melvin Wolschlager on April 8, 1961, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2015, after 54 years of marriage. Lorraine had a wonderful life in partnership with Melvin supporting their family dairy farm. They enjoyed road trips with their neighbor friends to go here and there, or just to the lake and back. Summers were always spent watching and cheering on the Tigers. She enjoyed dinners out with friends, including supporting the Knights of Columbus Friday Fish Fry, and playing cards with friends. Lorraine was a member of Sacred Heart Church (St. Hubert) in Bad Axe, and was a Lector for many years, a member of Daughters of Isabella Circle 608 for over 50 years and was a Regent for many years. She volunteered and prepared many salads and desserts over the years for funeral lunches, the 50-And-Over Card Club, Knights of Columbus, Daughters of Isabella, and for friends and family, picnics, weddings and birthdays. Lorraine will always be remembered as the best cook and baker, who loved preparing big homemade meals for all family gatherings. She loved decorating for Christmas and baking all kinds of Christmas cookies. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cake decorating. She loved flower and vegetable gardening, and then canning or freezing the harvest. They had family dogs over the years, but her favorite was Gus, who was her final furry friend and companion. We couldn't have asked for a better mother, and we will miss her every day. Lorraine will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. Lorraine is survived by her five children, Frances (Todd) Wiley of Wisconsin, Bernadette Frady of South Carolina, Tina (Mark, Sr.) Corless of Beverly Hills, Greg (special friend, Jackie) Wolschlager of Cass City, Richard (Linda) Wolschlager of Bloomfield Hills; grandchildren, Allison, Mariah (Justin), Emily (Dan), Mark, Jr (Courtney), Nikki and Breanna, Lauren (Shawn), and Brad (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Bennett, Johnathan, James, Oliver, Sophia, Marlow and Bodi, and many nieces and nephews. Siblings, Gary (Marcha) of Ruth, Linus (Donna) of Houghton Lake, Clifford (Rose) of Florida, Linda of Lake, and Sharon of Deerfield; sister-in-law, Audrey Wolschlager of Bad Axe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11 a.m., at St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 2 to 8 p.m., or Friday, February 28, 2025 from 9 to 10 a.m., at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe.
