George Wruble  
March 9, 1896 – April 17, 1981
George Wruble, 85, died Friday, April 17, 1981, in Harbor Beach Community 
Hospital after a long illness.  He was born March 9, 1896, in Paris Township.  
He married Cecelia Moy October 27, 1927, in Parisville.  Mr. Wruble founded 
Wruble Elevator in 1933 in Harbor Beach and acquired the Ubly Elevator in the 
1950s.  He was president of the company until his retirement in 1958.  He was a 
World War I veteran.  Mr. Wruble was past commander and member of Burhans-
Hagedon Post 197.  He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic 
Church.  He was active in civic affairs, serving on the Harbor Beach Board of 
Review for many years.  He was past president of the Harbor Beach Community 
Schools Board of Education and was a board member when the present high school 
was built.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Larry, and a daughter, Elaine Oparka, both of 
Harbor Beach; two brothers, Theodore, Carsonville, and Leo, Troy; a sister, 
Agnes Palmer, Brighton; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.  Two sons, 
Richard and Clarence, died earlier.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic 
Church.  The Rev. John Troester, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in the 
church cemetery with military rights by the Burhans-Hagedon Post.  Visiting 
hours are in the Ramsey Funeral Home.  A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today 
in the funeral home.  Published The Times Herald April 20, 1981

Norma’s Notes:  Son of Paul and Agnes (Cook) Wruble.  Married Anna Peyerk 
October 14, 1919 at St. Joseph Mission.  Anna died February 9, 1928.  George 
then married Cecelia Moy on October 27, 1928 according to their marriage 
certificate – not 1927 as stated in his obituary.
