Walter Zurek
August 2, 1916 - December 4, 1950
Ubly, Dec. 4 Walter Zurek, 34, was fatally injured at 9:45 a.m. today in a 
fall from the roof of a garage which he was shingling on his farm in Paris 
Township.  He was dead on admittance to Hubbard Memorial Hospital, Bad Axe.  
He suffered a fractured neck.  Zurek, who was not married, is survived by 
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Frances (Grimski) Zurek, Tyre; three 
sisters, Mrs. Constance (Matthew) Mazure and Mrs. Leonard Gosdzinski, both 
of Ubly, and Mrs. Ervin Lamke, Tyre, and six brothers, Elmer Zurek, Harbor 
Beach; Raymond, Sylvester, Chester and Leo Zurek, all of Detroit, and Marvin 
Zurek, Tyre.  Coroner Alden A. MacAlpine and Sheriff Merritt R. McBride 
investigated.  The remains were removed to the Edward Zinger & Son funeral 
home in Ubly.  Published Times Herald (Port Huron, Michigan) Monday December 
4, 1950


Ubly, Dec. 5 Funeral services for Walter Zurek, 34, fatally injured Monday 
in a fall from the roof of a garage on his farm in Paris Township, will be 
held at 9.30 a.m. Thursday in St. John, the Evangelist, Catholic church.  
Rev. Stanley A. Kilar will officiate.  Burial will be in the church 
cemetery.  The remains are in the family home where Father Kilar will 
conduct Rosary devotions at 8 p.m. Wednesday. 

Besides survivors printed Monday, Mr. Zurek is survived. by his grandmother, 
Mrs. Veronica Grimski, Tyre, and great grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Pollom, 
Minden City.  He was born August 2, 1916. in Austin Township, Sanilac 
County, and was a lifelong resident of this Vicinity.  Published Times
