Steinkohl, peering through the bars, Tuesday night. To make the sight more unusual, four lions gazed with hungry eyes on the judge and the other members of one of the most unusual bridal parties ever seen here. The wedding was on of the features of the opening night of the Elks big indoor circus, which Tuesday opened at the 119th Field Artillery armory, when Miss Goldie Hand, 424 Greenlawn aveue, became the bride of John Haverstiek, of 1814 Bradley street. The party entered the cage to the strains of the wedding march by Lohengrim, played by the band, and the members took their places in front of the lions, while the Kleig lights played over the cage and moving pictures were taken. The participants were plainly nervous even to the dignified judge, who succeeded most of the time in moving about so that the trainer was between his person and the beasts perched abou the arena. Animals Well Trained The performance opened with an act involving eight well trained ponies. Their was followed by dogs, ponies and monkeys, sheep and goats, equestriennes, gymnasts and animal acts with a lioness, three horses and dogs in the arena at the same time. Another act showed two lions horses, birds and dogs together. All the acts were well received, the animals without exception being well trained. A contortionist and the Elks clown quartet furnished entertainment between the regular circus features. Two performances were to be given Wednesday, a matinee at 2:30 o'clock and the evening performance at 8:15 o'clock. A feature of the evening performance will be bobbed hair beauty contest followed by an exhibition of perts. Thursday and Friday only evening performances will be given, while on Saturday and Sunday matinees will be held."
