BIOGRAPHICAL 
 
John McCreary was born in the township of Locke, July 25, 1849, and 
departed this life February 4, 1919, aged 69 years, six months and nine 
days. 
He was the oldest of eight children, four of whom survive him, one brother 
and three sisters, as follows:  Mrs. Sophia Fairbanks of Williamston; Mrs. 
Caroline Merrifield of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Mrs. Charlotte Elwell of Oak 
Grove; and James McCreary of Fowlerville, who lived with him when the 
end came. 
He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Schafer of Detroit, and a 
grandson, who resides in Howell.
