Van Wert Fisher died at her home at Bell Oak on Thursday, of last week, aged 87 years. She was born in the state of New York, June 11, 1816 and was there married to Robert Fisher, August 29, 1835, coming to Michigan in 1847, and settling in the township of Tyrone, in this county and residing there about six years, when they moved to Bell Oak and in 1859 they moved to this village where they resided for about 10 years, when they returned to Bell Oak, where they have resided since that time. She was the mother of ten children, seven of whom, four sons and three daughter, two of them, G.L. Fisher and Mrs. G.D. Hamilton, being residents of this village, with the aged husband who still survives her. She was of a family of 16 children, the only one now living being her youngest brother who is 84 years of age and was in attendance at her funeral. She became a christian in early life, and united with the M.E. church, of which she has been a faithful and consistent member. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Bell Oak on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. P.B. Hoyt officiating.
