ASELTINE DIED Aug. 25, 1872 Aged 5 M's. 2 d's. Additional Comments: Maudie Aseltine and her twin sister, Nettie, died within a month of each other and they are buried next to each other. ASELTINE, Maudie ASELTINE, Nettie Maudie and Nettie, twin sisters, died within a month of each other and are buried beside each other. Their father was Horace L. Aseltine, 1837-1908, who served in the Civil War, Co B, 3rd Michigan Cavalry. Horace appears in the Federal Census of 1850, age 12, born in Michigan, with one brother named Isral C., age 16, born in Canada. Horace and Isral were the sons of John and Laura Aseltine. John was listed in the Federal Census of 1850 as being 59, born in Vermont, occupation of farmer, and owning 600 acres in Alaiedon Township. John’s wife, Laura, was also born in Vermont and was age 56 in 1850. Maudie and Nettie Aseltine’s mother (wife of Horace) was Ruth Amanda (Minckler) Aseltine, 1842-1929. Horace (at age 20) and Ruth Aseltine (at age 16) were married 12/30/1857. Horace and Ruth Aseltine (parents of Maudie and Nettie) and John and Laura Aseltine (grandparents of Maudie and Nettie) are all buried in Dansville Cemetery, Dansville, Ingham County, Michigan.
