Family records indicate her date of birth as 1807 in contradiction to her tombstone; she died in 1844. Martin and Martha had the following children: Edwin P. (06/20/1827-1865), Edward B. (1830-1865), Frances A. (1833- ----), and Mary C. (12/24/1833- ----). These children were all born in New York. Martha’s son, Edwin P. DuBois, was the husband of Clarissa DuBois, who is buried in DuBois Cemetery. Martha shares a tombstone with Martin and his second wife, Cynthia. DuBOIS, Martin Martin was the son of Jacob C. and Sarah (Buck) DuBois. Jacob and Sarah are also buried in DuBois Cemetery. In the spring of 1836, Martin and his parents settled on part of section 35 in Alaiedon Township. The first school meeting in the district was held in Martin DuBois’ house on 11/11/1841. Martin donated one acre of his land as DuBois Cemetery in 1841 when his mother died. His mother, Sarah, was the first burial in DuBois Cemetery. Martin’s first wife was Martha (Rumsey) DuBois (for Martha’s information, see her entry). Martin and Martha had the following children: Edwin P. (06/20/1827-1865), Edward B. (1830-1865), Frances A. (1833- ----), and Mary C. (12/24/1833- ----). These children were all born in New York. Edwin P. DuBois was the husband of Clarissa DuBois, buried in DuBois Cemetery. Cynthia (Rice) DuBois was the second wife of Martin DuBois and they were married 10/27/1845 when Martin was 43 and Cynthia was 44. Martin shares a tombstone with his first wife, Martha, and his second wife, Cynthia. DuBOIS, Cynthia Cynthia (Rice) DuBois was the second wife of Martin DuBois. According to marriage records, they were married 10/27/1845 when Martin, of Alaiedon, was age 43 and Cynthia, of Leslie, was age 44. Cynthia (Rice) DuBois was born in Vermont in 1801 and died in 1863. Cynthia shares a tombstone with her husband and his first wife, Martha.
