Wife of Edwin P. DuBois died Jan. 20, 1854 aged 18 y’s 9 m’s & 10 days She lived as lives a peaceful dove, She died, as blossoms die, And now her spirit floats above, A seraph in the sky. (footstone) C.F.D. Notes: Clarissa F. (Holmes) DuBois was the wife of Edwin P. DuBois (b: 06/20/1827 in Delaware County, New York; d:1865). They were married 06/30/1851 by the Reverend R. DuBois. The marriage record lists their ages as Edwin, 24, and Clarissa, 16. Daniel Holmes and Alonzo Holmes, both of Wheatfield, were witnesses to the marriage. Edwin P. DuBois appears in the 1850 census as the son of Martin and Martha (Rumsey) DuBois (both buried in DuBois Cemetery).
