DuBOIS (crude fieldstone footstone) Notes: DuBOIS, Infant This infant’s father was Asa DuBois was born in 1798, Ulster County, New York, the oldest son of Jacob C. DuBois and Sarah (Buck) DuBois, both also buried in DuBois Cemetery. Asa died 06/08/1885 in Livingston County, Michigan. Asa was married to Orilla (Searl) DuBois in Ulster County, New York. Orilla was born 11/19/1802 in Middletown, Delaware County, New York and died 02/24/1893 in Unadilla, Michigan. Asa and Orilla arrived in the Alaiedon Township area circa 1840. According to the “Pioneer History of Ingham County,” pg. 349, Asa “…came bringing his wife, son and four daughters.” Family records indicate that the children of Asa and Orilla DuBois were named: Samuel, Sally M., Mariaminnie, and Caroline. Since only three daughters, rather than four, are listed in family history, this would appear to indicate that the fourth daughter who arrived in Alaiedon with the family was this infant daughter buried in DuBois.
