Additional Comments: According to written and oral reports of the local branch of the Every family, this brick with the initials "E.M.E." marks the grave of Ella May Every (b:1857, d:circa 1930). Ella never married and she is buried directly west of her parents, John Willard Every (b:1817, d:1887) and Jane (Lunday) Every (b:1817, d:1896). Her brothers and sisters were: Adelaide (never married), Leander (kicked & killed by a horse as a boy, age unknown, buried in DuBois without a tombstone per Every family records), Mary (who died in infancy, burial site unknown), Emma (who married Quincy Taylor), and Horatio (who married Catherine J. Lunday). Emma May was the paternal aunt of Horatio & Catherine's children, Aletha and Floyd ("Floddie"). Aletha and Floddie are also buried in DuBois Cemetery. On March 31, 1859, when Emma May Every was approximately two years of age, her family purchased the house built and owned by Garrett DuBois. The property is still owned by Every family members (1142 West Howell Road, Alaiedon Township, Mason, MI). The original DuBois home fell into disrepair and a new home was built in 1959. As an adult, Emma resided with her maiden sister, Adelaide. When Adelaide died, Emma lived with her aunt, Ethel Otis, on Okemos Street in Mason. Family members state that Emma had a speech defect that was the result of medication given to her as a child. The family does not have an exact date of death for Emma, but a living relative who knew Emma estimates that her death would have been in the early 1930's. Emma's grave was marked with a simple brick containing her initials. Notes: According to written and oral reports of the local branch of the Every family, this brick with the initials "E.M.E." marks the grave of Ella May Every. She was born in Jackson, Michigan on 05/08/1857 and died 03/09/1934 at the age of 77 years. Ella never married and she is buried directly west of her parents, John Willard Every (b:1817, d:1887) and Jane (Lunday) Every (b:1817, d:1896). Her parents were born in New York and married in Jackson. Ella’s brothers and sisters were: Adelaide (never married), Leander (kicked & killed by a horse as a boy, age unknown, buried in DuBois without a tombstone per Every family records), Mary (who died in infancy, buried in DuBois without a tombstone per Every family records), Emma (who married Quincy Taylor), and Horatio (who married Catherine J.
