Son of Reuben & Sarah E. EVERY Died June 7, 1861 Aged 1 y’r 3 mo’s & 10 d’ys We loved him yes, no longer can tell How much we loved him & how well. God loved him and He thought best To take him home to be at rest. (footstone) H.J.E. Notes: Harvey J. Every was the son of Reuben and Sarah E. (Linden) Every and the brother of Carrie Every (buried in DuBois Cemetery). Both Reuben and Sarah are buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason, Michigan. From the Ingham County Democrat, 7/12/1891, “Tuesday at 9:45am, Mrs. Reuben (Sarah E. Linden) Every dies of dropsy of the heart, being sick for 4 years. She was born in Bridgewater, Lenawee County, Michigan on 04/24/1836. She married Reuben Every on 06/27/1855 and moved to Alaiedon in 1857, finally moving to Mason 04/24/1883. Funeral service was at the Baptist Church where she was a charter member of W.R.C. She had four children-two living, Mrs. Olive L. Lundy of Ingham and red L. Every of Mason.” Also from the Ingham County Democrat, 08/18/1899, “Reuben Every dies Friday at 10:30pm at his home on West Street in Mason of cholera morbus, aged 67 years. He was born in Franklin County, New York in 1832. He served one year in the 12th MI Infantry then was on a disability pension. Funeral services were at his home Sunday at 2:30pm. He leaves two children by his first wife (Sarah E. Linden): Mrs. Olive Lundy of Lansing and red Every of Battle Creek.” This article suggests that Reuben remarried sometime after the death of his wife, Sarah, in 1891.
