Notes:

EVERY, Jane
Jane Every was born in New York to Joseph and Margaret Every.  She was the wife of John Willard Every.  Her death
certificate lists cause of death as inflammation of the bowels.  Family members and the death certificate list her
year of death as 1895 though her tombstone reads 1896.  The Ingham County Democrat (ICD 24Oct1895, 1-6), verifies
this fact: “10/22/95 Tuesday, Mrs. Jane Every, widow of J.W. Every, died at her home in Alaiedon at 79 years.  She
was born in New York.  Internment in DuBois Cemetery.”  An ICD article from 1926 mentions that on 10/4/1926,
“Horatio Every dies of lobar pneumonia, age 78 years, occupation was farmer.  His parents were John & Jane Every.”
 Horatio was the father of Aletha and Floddie (Floyd), who are buried in DuBois Cemetery.  Horatio was also the
father of Wount, Lena D., and Ethel.  Horatio was married to Catherine J. (Lunday) Every.  John and Jane Every also
had another son named Leander who, as a youth, was kicked and killed by a horse.  Family members state that Leander
is buried in DuBois Cemetery but that they are unsure where.  His tombstone may be buried, he may have only field
stone markers, or his gravesite was never marked.  John and Jane also had four daughters, Ella May, Adelaide
(Addie), Mary (who died in infancy and is buried in DuBois without a tombstone per Every family records), and Emma
(who married Quincy Taylor).  Ella May, who is buried near her parents, is thought to be the last known burial in
DuBois Cemetery (1934).


EVERY, John Willard
From the Ingham County Democrat, “On 6/5/87 Sunday, J. W. Every died of disease of the brain.  Funeral services are
at the home, 6/7/87 at 10 a.m.  50 carriages trail the remains to Dubois Cemetery.”  John’s death certificate lists
his cause of death as paralysis.  He was born 12/10/1818 in Roxberry, Delaware County, NY.  At 15 years, his family
moved to Columbia, Jackson County, MI.  At age 21, he married Jane Every of Columbia.  They moved to Alaiedon and
bought the Garrett Dubois farm in 1859, “He was the first person to break soil for the Baptist Church in Mason.  He
leaves a wife and 4 children.”  The Ingham County Democrat also states, 10/4/1926 “Horatio Every dies of lobar
