Fritz Note: Tombstone says date of death was 12 Aug 1864 but military record says 21 Aug 1864. On Aug 12 his regiment was between Cold Harbor, VA and White Oak Swamp, VA. Additional Comments: Melvin P. Fritz Son of John and A.P. Fritz Enlisted as a Private on 10 Dec 1862 at the age of 18. Enlisted in 13 Dec 1862. Killed on 25 Aug 1864 at Reams’ StationVA (Source: Ancestry.com, American Civil War Soldiers. Sources: 10) Ranked out as a Corporal (Source: Ancestry.com, U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861- 1865) File Number: M545 roll 15 Uriah A. Fritz Son of John and A.P. Fritz Enlisted as a Private on 23 Dec 1863 at the age of 18. Enlisted in on 7 Jan 1864. Died of disease on 21 Aug 1864 at/near Weldon Railroad, VA. His name is listed as Abel Fritz in all civil war records. At the time of his death his regiment was on its way from Petersburg, VA to Weldon Railroad, VA. Was in Company C as a private and later in Company D (Source: Ancestry.com, American Civil War Soldiers.
