SHERWOOD 1879 - 1899 Gone but not forgotten Addtional Comments: BLANCHARD, Ezra Guy Ezra Guy Blanchard, born 1834 in Sodus, Wayne County, New York, was the son of Ezra and Dorcas A. (Decker) Blanchard and brother to Mahala Jane (Blanchard) Phelps. Ezra Guy was married to Marinda R. (Gilbert) Blanchard (on a separate monument next to his) and the date of their marriage was 04/03/1864. At the time of the wedding, Ezra was 30 and Marinda was 16. The service was performed by Joseph Scudder, Justice of the Peace. Isral Chapman and Miss Jane Phelps were witnesses. Ezra Guy and Marinda were the parents of Dora B., Lyman H., and Nellie N. (Blanchard) Sherwood (all buried in DuBois; Nellie shares the monument with her father). Ezra Guy Blanchard served in the Civil War, enlisting in “Company G, 12th Michigan Infantry March 13, 1865 at Wheatfield for one year, age 31. Mustered March 21, 1865. Discharged at DeVall’s Bluff, Arkansas May 28, 1865. Present residence, Mason, Mich.” (G 12 M Inf, vol. 12, pg 17, Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War 1861-1865.) His death certificate states that he lived in Wheatfield Township and his date of death was 05/07/1900, aged 64y, 3m, 18d, as a result of heart disease.
