                                 1831 - 1914

Sarah Melissa "Austin" Johnson daughter of Daniel Brackett Austin and Delight
Preston was born on September 17, 1831 in Batavia, Genesee, New York USA. On
February 27, 1914 in White Oak Township, Ingham, Michigan USA she died of 
senility and congestion of lungs and buried at Fairview Cemetery, Section 3 Lot 
430 in Dansville, Ingham, Michigan USA. On June 23, 1849 in Clarendon, Orleans, 
New York USA she first married Lemuel Cuthbert and he died in 1850 in New York 
USA. On December 25, 1851 in Tyrone Township, Livingston, Michigan USA she 
remarried to Oscar Lemuel Johnson and they had five sons: David Daniel (Philena 
Laura Austin), Hiram Oscar, Willard Freeman (Hannah Mary VanBuren)(Mary Ann 
Harris)(Mary Dayton Cullen), William Lemuel (Cora M. Masterson) and James Earl 
Johnson (Minnie E. Brininstool)(Melissa Gallagher Johnson). Oscar and Sarah also
adopted a son named Ruthford Jay Johnson according to her obituary.
