He married Ann Elizabeth Bolles on April 25, 1875 and together they had two daughters, Sarah Myrtie and Alice Mabel Near. Ann Elizabeth Bolles was born in Madison Co., NY, daughter of Robert and Anna (Baker) Bolles. She was the wife of Hiram Raymond Near and the mother of Sarah Myrtie and Alice Mabel Near. Cause of death for both the daughters was Bright's Disease related to Diabetes.
