He was a civil war veteran and the husband of Ruth Hannah (Jefferys) Armstrong. Ruth Hannah Jefferys was the daughter of Parsons and Sarah (Carter) Jefferys. Her death certificate shows she was born June 25, 1850, birth place not shown, white, female, housewife, married, and died on May 26, 1918 in Mason, Ingham Co., MI at the age of 67 years 11 months and 1 day, cause of death septicum(?) Informant Mildred Fritz of Detroit. Burial was on May 29, 1918 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason, MI.
