NOTE:  Military marker says O. J. Cotton but his name is George Jerome Cotton. 
He was born August 1, 1833 in Sheffield, Lorain Co., OH son of George 
Washington and Rachel (Smith) Cotton, father of Vernon and Maude Cotton.

Lydia E. Cotton was the wife of George Jerome Cotton.  She was born in NY.

George Jerome and Lydia E. Cotton were the parents of Bell (born in MI) and 
Malvern A. Cotton (born in OH)

1880 census for Vevay, Ingham Co., MI shows two more children born to George 
and Lydia Cotton, Vernon, age 20 and Maud, age 8.
