He enlisted in Company H 26th Infantry Regiment on 27 Jan 1864. He was discharged from Company H 26th Infantry Regiment on 05 Jun 1865. He was the husband of Jennie Fay. They were the parents of Hobart W., Agnes (Fay) Gillett, and Alice Fay. Josie P. Fay was the wife of Hobart W. Fay. They were the parents of Howard W., Ted W., Lawrence D. and Maxine Fay.
