NOTE:  William W. Root was the son of Harvey and Polly A. (Barnes) Root.  He 
enlisted at the age of 25 on 20 Aug 1862 as Ass't Surgeon in Albany, NY.  He 
was commissioned an officer in Company S New York 75th Infantry regiment on 20 
Aug 1862.  Promoted to Full Surgeon on 02 Dec 1864.  Mustered out on 31 Aug 
1865 at Savannah, GA.

He was the husband of Margaret Snell Root and the father of Walter S., 
Clarence, and Katie A. Root.

Michigan Genealogical Death Indexing System showed Katie A. Root, white 
female, born in Vevay, Ingham Co., MI, parents Wm W. and Maggie Root died 
August 7, 1873 in Vevay, Ingham Co., MI at the age of 7 months and 12 days, 
cause of death Dysentry.

Walter S., wife Laura and their children are all buried in Section J of Maple 
Grove Cemetery.

I'm not sure if Clarence is buried in the family plot where his parents are or 
not as just his name is on the monument as is his brother's,  Walter S. Root.
