Royston obituary shows he was born November 9, 1815 in Elizabeth, Union Co., New Jersey and died March 21, 1897 in Rives Junction, Jackson, Co., MI at the age of 81 years 4 months and 12 days, cause of death la Grippe. He resided in New York after leaving New Jersey and married his wife Jane E. Royston on March 24, 1841 and in September of that year, came to the township of Vevay. In 1875, they moved to Mason where Jane Royston died June 9, 1888. He later married Mrs. Martha A. (Dewey) Claflin and they moved to Rives Junction. He was a prominent farmer and left behind two sons, Ellery T. and Frank L. Royston and Mrs. S. A. Booth.
