Delavan C. Smith was first married to Sarah Ann Smith. 1860 census for Vevay, 
Ingham Co., MI showed D. C. Smith, age 33, born about 1827 NY, Sarah A. Smith 
born about 1833 NY and Jane Smith, age 10 born about 1850 NY.

1880 Census for Vevay, Ingham Co., MI showed Delavan C. Smith, age 58, born 
about 1828 in New York, Jane D. Smith, Wife, age 32 born about 1848, MI, 
Gertie H. Smith, Daughter, age 10 born about 1870 MI, Guy D. Smith, Son, age 
6, born about 1874 MI, and Allie, Daughter, age 3, born about 1877 MI.
