GRIFFIN CPL US ARMY WORLD WAR II MAY 7, 1920 - JUN. 6, 1999 Harold Glen Griffin was the first born son of Leroy Emerson and Jessie (Tripp) Griffin. He was born on May 7, 1920 in Lakeview, Montcalm County, MI. He came from a large family of 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls altogether. Harold was inducted into the U.S. Army August 2, 1943 at Fort Custer, Battle Creek, MI and discharged on May 3, 1946 in Fort Sheridian, Illinois. He was a Corporal with the Flying Tigers and also a C.B.I. Veteran. He had been employed with Reo until he began working for the U.S. Postal Service in 1953 where he retired in 1983. He married Barbara Jean (Faught) Nall on May 25, 1951 in Leslie, Ingham County, Michigan. He was a step-father to two children and father of two children. Harold passed away on June 6, 1999 at a local hospital in Lansing,Michigan at the age of 79 due to heart failure. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Jessie, brothers, Robert Lee Griffin in 1989, Jackson "Jack" Griffin in 1989 His funeral was held on June 9, 1999 at the Estes-Leadley Funeral Home in Holt. Burial was in Maple Ridge Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Morley S. Oates, Post #701, V.F.W. His headstone is next to his parents, Leroy E. and Jessie Griffin in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Jackson "Jack" Griffin is also buried there at the very front of the cemetery on the left as you go into the cemetery. There is no headstone as of yet for him.
