US NAVY WWII

Robert Moore was born August 21, 1926 in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI, parents 
unknown.  He was passed away from home to home before he settled in as the 
foster child of William C. and Martha Broughton in Lansing.  He entered into 
the Navy October 21, 1943 and was discharged on April 26, 1946 serving during 
World War II on a ship.  Upon returning to Lansing, Michigan, he met and 
married Deana I. Griffin on February 1, 1947 in Lansing, Ingham Co., MI.  They 
had seven children. Two of whom are deceased, William Lee and Donald Duane, 
both due to a drowning accident on June 30, 1966.  During his lifetime, he 
held many jobs but his longest running employment was with Cheney Block 
Company in Holt, Michigan. Robert, his wife and children were a resident of 
Mason for a number of years.  In 1976 they sold their home on S. Cedar Street 
in Mason and moved to a home on White River in Hesperia, Michigan. Robert 
Moore passed away on February 3, 1988 in Miami, Florida while wintering down 
there for the winter and visiting a son who also lived down there at the 
time.  Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. in the Estes Leadley Holt 
Chapel with Rev. Denny Buwalda, Pastor of the Holt United Methodist Church 
officiating.  Interment followed in Maple Ridge Cemetery where he was buried 
next to his sons, William and Donald Moore.
