DE LOSS AND LOUISA (ADKINS) GIBSON. DE LOSS GIBSON, a representative farmer of Keene Township, residing on section 11, is a native of Genesee County, N. Y., and was born July 24, 1804. He is a son of Archibald K. and Sylvia (Gibbs) Gibson. When about two years old he removed with his parents to Otsego County, N. Y., and was there reared to manhood and has been a lifelong farmer. He was married November 1, 1827, to Louisa Adkins, a native of Otsego County, N. Y. Five children have been sent to bless the home of this worthy couple, namely: Mary J., who became Mrs. Henry, and is now a widow; Ruth A., the wife of S. M. Stebbins; Celesta, the wife of Jabez Hull; and William W. In 1839 he emigrated with his family to Michigan and located for a short time in Eaton County and came to Ionia County in 1841, making his residence in Keene Township. He has served his township faithfully, both as Treasurer and Highway Commissioner and is a man who is truly respected by all who know him.
