Grand Rapids Herald August 23, 1899
Portland, Mich. Aug 22-Eugene Sprague is the second Collins balloonist to meet 
a violent death within the last month. Last Saturday he was at Racine, Wis. 
for the purpose of making an acension, and a telegram has just arrived from W. 
Carrow, his partner, that he was killed by a street car in Racine. Sprague was 
a daring young chap. His widow who gave birth to a child yesterday, has not 
been advised of his death.
