Grand Rapids Press April 3, 1914
Ionia, Mich. April 3, - Mayor Fred W. Green of Ionia has bought the plant of the
Portland Manufacturing company at Portland, Mich., which was sold at receiver's
sale. This is the concern of which George W. Wood was a former manager and which
has been in litigation for several months. There were six bidders, the price
starting at $6,000 and reaching $9,000, at which price it was turned over to
Mayor Green. The Portland Manufacturing company makes washing machines and
employs 100 persons.
