The plan has been approved which set up a $100 painting fund to get the project rolling. Adair has contracted all branches of the armed services, asking each to contribute to the fund and post a greeting on the tower to all local servicemen. At last count there were at least 35 Portland men in Vietnam and hundreds more stationed around the world. Local representative of the armed services are in the process of having the project approved by their superiors. Adair said the village expects to send a colored photograph of the finished project to each man in the service. The idea is to let them know they are not forgotten by the home folks.
