Ionia Sentinel Standard, 16 Nov 1959

Requiem high mass was sung at 9 a.m. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul church for 
Mrs. Katherine Abfalter, 81, 632 Union street, who died Wednesday evening at 
Ionia County Memorial hospital.  Prayer service was held at 8:30 a.m. at the 
chapel.  The Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Burr officiated and interment was in the 
family lot at Mt. Olivet cemetery.  Rosary was recited at the Phelps funeral 
chapel at 7:30 p.m. Friday.  Bearers were Glenn Thorp, Samuel White, Glenn 
Hecox, Abram Tanner, Anthony Balice and James Roberts.

Those attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johansen, Mr. and Mrs. 
Frank Kalkofen, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bush and Mrs. Raymond Kalkofen of Grand 
Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Starkweather and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jennings of 
Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. William Bannan and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bannan of 
Jackson; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lapo of Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Albright 
of Lyons, Mr. and Mrs. Hale McCartney of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Charles Hough of 
Malden, Mass.
