He had undergone an abdominal operation several years ago. Burial will be in Detroit. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Alice Abfalter; eight children, Edward, Margaret, Genevieve, Winifred, Paul, Detroit; Hubert and Francis, in armed service, and Josephine, of Three Rivers; nine grandchildren; a brother, Frank Abfalter, Ionia, and two sisters, Mrs. George Reiser and Mrs. Mary Lepler, Lake Odessa. Born in Westphalia September 9, 1875, Mr. Abfalter came to Ionia when a boy and later learned the trade of clothing cutter at the Michigan Clothing company plant, later the Sorosis. For 12 years he was employed at the Marquette branch prison, being transferred to the Michigan reformatory here about nine year ago. Three years ago the family moved to Detroit, where he plied his trade.
