(McGinnity) Ackerson, 84, of Easthampton, Mass., formerly of Portland, died Sept. 16, 2007 surrounded by her loving family, following a period of failing health. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland April 6, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Barrie) McGinnity. Margaret was educated in Scotland. She came to this country in 1946 and became a United States citizen in 1960 in Michigan. While living in Michigan, she worked for the Chrysler Corp. from 1960 through 1969. Upon moving to Easthampton, she then worked for JP Stevens Co. as an inspector from 1972 until she retired in 1985. Margaret was a communicant at the Notre Dame Parish. She enjoyed dancing, ceramics, knitting, crafts and the love of family. She was predeceased by two sisters and seven brothers: Mary Fairly and Nellie Hawkins, and Daniel, Patrick, Steven, Joseph, Alex, John and Michael McGinnity. She is survived by daughters, Roberta Schrauben and her husband, Michael of Easthampton, and Bonnie Partridge and her husband, Bill of Olivet; daughter-in-law, Ann Ackerson of Kalamazoo, wife of the late Barry Ackerson, who died in 2005; grandchildren, Heather and Michael Sacco, Eric Schrauben, Jeff Ackerson, Ryan Ackerson, Nick and Jessie Ackerson, Joseph Ackerson, Melissa and Lorne Brush, Jess Lannon, David and Tamra Partridge, Tracy Partridge, Larenda and Jeff Kerns, Tammy Patrick, Danielle and Wojtek Hryniewicz; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Scotland and Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Notre Dame Church in Easthampton. Burial will take place in her native homeland, Edinburgh, Scotland at a later date. Arrangements were handled by the Graham Funeral Home, Easthampton.
