Lake Odessa Wave, 24 Oct 1919

October 14, 1919 occurred the death of Mrs. C.S. Adams of 237 Crescent Park 
Avenue, Grand Rapids, Mich.  

She was born October 2, 1878 in Odessa township, Ionia county, Michigan, being 
a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Batdorff.  Her childhood days were happily spent 
with her parents on the farm home near Lake Odessa.  Her marriage to Clarence 
G. Adams occurred February 26th, 1898.  To this union was born one daughter, 
Lorraine, who has been her mother’s constant companion.

Mrs. Adams has been a patient sufferer for the past two years from the disease 
which finally resulted in her death.  She has borne her suffering with great 
fortitude and courage and passed away trusting and believing in her Risen 
Savior who has sustained her through all her suffering.

Besides her own immediate family and her parents, she leaves to mourn their 
loss one sister, Mae Estelle Batdorff of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and four 
brothers: Emerson Batdorff of Rudyard, Michigan; Frank H. Batdorff of Sault St. 
Marie, Michigan; Claude E. Batdorff of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Clyde C. 
Batdorff of Levering, Michigan.

The funeral services were held at her residence in Grand Rapids, Michigan, 
Thursday October 16, 1919, at 10 o’clock with Dr. Oliver Van Osdel, of the 
Wealthy avenue Baptist church, officiating.  Mrs. Vernon B. Cutler sang.  The 
bearers were her four brothers, her nephew, Dale Batdorff and her cousin, Fred 
Curtis.

Those attending the funeral from out of the city were: F. H. Batdorff, Emerson 
Batdorff, Clyde Batdorff; L. Dale Batdorff, Albion; Miss Mildred Geddes, 
Lansing; Mrs. Cora Bair, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. E. Slocum, Byron; Mr. and Mrs. 
Alpha Davids, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kingman, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Curtis, Mr. Wm. 
Curtis, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Curtis, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Johnson and Mrs. George 
Walters, Lake Odessa, Michigan.

Interment in Lakeside cemetery, Lake Odessa, Michigan.
