Ionia County Sheriff Peter Van Vleck, and Coroner Dale Kauffman who were called to investigate, said cause of death was due to self inflicted 22 caliber rifle wounds which occurred about 6:30 p.m. They said Adams had been despondent. He was born July 14, 1933 in Acorn, Mo., the son of Calvin and Sarah Adams. He attended Ionia high school and was married April 10, 1951, to Joyce Sible of Ionia. They had spent all their married life in Ionia vicinity. For the past two weeks Adams was employed at Ionia State Hospital and had previously been employed at Thompson Products in Portland. Survivors include his wife, Joyce, and four children, Bryant 9, Mark 7, Scott 6, and Sherri 5; his mother, Mrs. Sarah E. Adams of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Rigdon of Lyons, and Mrs. Spencer Seabrook of Holt; four brothers, Griff and Clarence Adams of Muir, James of St. Louis, Mo., and Bryant of Naylor, Mo.
