Mary Pray Adamski, 85, of DeBerry Fla., died Nov. 14, 1997. She was born in 
Ann Arbor, the daughter of Dr. Frank F. Pray and Lera Arthur Pray.

She attended school in Jackson and Michigan Normal in Ypsilanti before 
becoming a school teacher. She and her first husband, Erwin Foster, lived in 
Plymouth where she taught in a nearby country school  After moving to 
Orlando, Fla, she also taught school and was recognized with "The Most 
Valuable Teacher of the Year" award on one occasion.

Her great-grandfather built a home on the Plymouth, Ann Arbor Road, a way-
tavern on the Detroit-Chicago horse route. It was a two-story brick home 
with a stone monument in the front yard, depicting a bronze plaque. His son 
George Washington Pray was in the first graduating class at the University 
of Michigan. Later, he was a doctor in Ionia county as was his son, Frank 
Pray.

Mary enjoyed water color painting, collecting antiques and playing bridge.

She is survived by her husband, two sons a stepson, two sisters and a 
stepsister and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents and a 
stepmother, Gladys Lathrup Pray, and a sister, Margaret Pray Olson of 
Houston, Tex.

She is being interred int eh Woodard Lake Cemetery in Ionia County.
