Betty was born to Gordon and Retha Lather in northern Michigan. She grew up on a farm that she dearly loved and enjoyed. While going to college she married Harold Massey, who died in 1952. She married Donald Ray Addison in 1958, and loved and cared for his son. Betty moved to Florida with Donald in 1974. She hired into Lakeland General Hospital as a nursing assistant. She had been assisting the ill and aged her entire adult life. She retired from Lakeland General in 1998 after a stroke left her ill. In 1998, Betty moved to her sons house in Michigan, where she died. Betty was an active member of Winter Haven Church of God till her stroke. She attended Woodbury Community Church when health allowed. She was dearly loved by her friends and family. Preceding her in death were her parents; a baby brother, Duane Lather; an older sister, Doris Moore and her husband, Donald Ray Addison in 2000. Surviving are her son, Donald Addison (Kathy) of Lake Odessa; two grandsons and spouses, Jeffrey Scott (Mitzi) of Florida, and Michael Jonas (Karie) of Lake Odessa; two great grandchildren, LinnLee All and MaiLee Ann Addison of Florida; brothers, Wilfred Lather (Lee) of Parma and Bill Lather (Shirley) of Fort Myers, Florida and sister, Audrey Schrock (Brad) of Arizona; several loving nieces and nephews. Betty was laid to rest in Auburndale, Florida with her husband, Donald on October 22, 2005. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, at the Woodbury Community Church, 216 Maple St., off M-66 in Woodbury. Pastor Dale Hanson of Woodbury Community Church, and pastor Tony Saraiva from the Grace Missions Church in Lansing, will be officiating. A small luncheon will be served in the basement following the service.
