Joanna J. Adema, 83, of Grand Rapids passed away July 31, 2015.  She was born
May 25, 1932, in the Netherlands the daughter of Gerrit and Geertje (Hooghuis)
VanZwol.  Joanna married James J.G. Adema in 1956 in the Netherlands, who
preceded her in death in 2000.  They immigrated to the United States in 1957. 
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ionia.  Joanna and James were
owners of Vans/Windmill Motel.

Joanna is survived by sons, John (Robin) Adema of Grand Rapids and Gerald Adema
of Wyoming; daughter, Patricia (Brad) Besteman of Lowell; grandchildren, Melissa
(Tim) Hutchins of Bellevue, Jamie (Tom) Woodburn of Portage, Kayleigh Adema of
Lake, Blaire Wray of Lowell, Nicole Wray of Lowell, and Jillian Wray of Lowell;
step-grandchildren, Seth Besteman of Grand Rapids and Raeann Besteman of Grand
Rapids; sister, Martje Oosterhof of the Netherlands; and six
great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James;
three brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Aug 5, 11 a.m., at the First
Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Main St., Ionia, Michigan 48846, with Rev. Mulder
officiating.  Visitation on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home, 3521 S.
State Road, Ionia, Michigan 48846.
