Adgate were held Tuesday afternoon, July 14, from the home at 2 o’clock and from the LeValley church at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. F. G. Wright, of Ganges, officiated assisted by Rev. J. M. Jensen and Rev. U. Sutcliff. Interment was at Balcom cemetery. Pallbearers were Milo Peterson, Gilbert Hinds, Jacob Moore, Burton Kingston, Homer Reichter and Clyde Stout. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Chamberlin and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rumbaugh had charge of the flowers. Mrs. Robert Weisgerber sang accompanied by Mrs. Albert Hinds. Surviving are the husband, Lewis Adgate; two daughters, Mrs. Leo Smith, of Ionia, and Mrs. Herman Eefsen, of Lowell; one son, William, of Ionia; six grandchildren; step-mother, Mrs. Blanche Sherwood; three brothers, George Hazzard, of Berlin township Benjamin Hazzard, of Lake Odessa, and Charles Hazzard of South Ionia; three sisters, Mrs. John Shook, of Orange; Mrs. Arza Sherwood, of Berlin, and Mrs. Harriet McDonald, of Orange. Relatives attending from out of town were Mrs. Herman Eefsen and daughter of Lowell; Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Hazzard and family, of Lake Odessa; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adgate, of Portland; Rev. and Mrs. Sutcliff and family of Plainsville; Joseph Roush and Donald of Charlotte.
