Rodney G. Adgate, 84, of Saranac passed away July 30, 2013 in Grand Rapids. He 
was born Feb. 26, 1929 in Ionia the son of Max and Nola (Rickert) Adgate.

Rodney married Lorene Stanton Oct. 15, 1948. She passed in 2006. He later 
married Sue Herrick Feb. 23, 2008. Rodney worked at General Motors until 
retiring in 1988. He loved history and working in the yard.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Sue Adgate of Saranac; children, Craig (Sharon) 
Adgate of Saranac, Linda (Arthur) Briseno of North Carolina, Kim (Sharon) 
Adgate of Virginia, Kelly (Jerry) Schray of Woodland, and Max Adgate and Tom 
Klann of Caledonia; grandchildren, Alisha, Ryan, Lance, Jessi, Levi, Erin, 
Seth, Jeremiah, Marhetta, Laura, Melissa, Hannah, Caleb and Jacquie; step-
children, Jim (Lynda) Herrick of Mt. Pleasant and Julie (Dave) Klahn of 
Clarksville; brother-in-law, Wayne Stanton of Ionia; 14 great-grandchildren and 
10 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his late wife Lorene Adgate 
and two brothers, Bruce and Brenton. 

Memorial Service will be held at Noon on Friday, Aug. 2 at Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac. Interment at Balcom Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. 
Thursday, Aug. 1 at the funeral home.
