Ionia Sentinel Standard, 15 Dec 1964

Elmer F. Adgate, 79, of rural Lyons, retired farmer and resident of the area 20 
years, died Monday at Ionia Manor.  He had been a patient two months but had 
been ill a long time.  He was born October 5, 1885 in Orange township.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie; four sons, Leland and Lawrence of Lyons, 
Neal of Muir, and Dr. Wayne Adgate of Lansing; four daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Day 
of Portland, Mrs. Margaret Signs of Frankfort, Ind., Lois Adgate of Traverse 
City, and Mrs. Phyllis Jones of Lansing; 15 grandchildren, and a brother, 
William Maurice of Hendersonville, Tenn.

Funeral service will be conducted at Neller funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. 
with the Rev. Robert Treat of Portland Methodist church officiating.  Burial 
will be at Portland cemetery.  Bearers will be Michael Jones, Kenneth Day, 
Gerald Day, Guy Fisher, Lewis Jones and Robert Beard, Sr.
