Benedict Adgate, 63, of Ionia township, died suddenly Friday morning at 6:10 o’clock in the Ionia County Memorial hospital. She had been admitted to the hospital at 3:40 a.m. suffering with a heart attack. She had been in ill health for several months but death was unexpected. Born September 6, 1879, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Townsend of Orange township. She attended the LeValley school and went to Michigan Agricultural college in Lansing. In 1902, she was married to Earl Benedict and the couple spent the first eleven years on a farm in Ronald township. From there they moved to a farm in Lyons township and it was there that Mr. Benedict died in October 1929. She was married to Lewis Adgate on December 1, 1936, and the couple had resided on a farm in Ionia township. He preceded her in death February 21, 1943. She was a member of Le Valley church, the Ladies Aid society and the Social Hour club. She is survived by the following children, George Benedict of Lyons, Emery Benedict of Greenville, Mrs. Greta Weller of St. Johns, Albert Benedict of Lyons, Roscoe Benedict of Saline, and Miss Verla Benedict at home; three grandchildren; her step-children, William Adgate and Mildred Eeisen of Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Reeder of Fenwick and Mrs. Clayton Sible of Flint; two brothers, Clifford Townsend of Ionia and Lynn Townsend of Ionia. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon with prayer services at the residence at 3 o’clock and at the LeValley church at 3:30 o’clock (ewt). Rev. H. Howard Fuller will officiate and burial will be in the family lot in Balcom cemetery. The body will be taken from the Stone funeral home to the residence in Ionia township on Saturday and will repose in the LeValley church one hour before services.
