He had been sick about three weeks with typhoid fever. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, and interment was in Balcom cemetery. Mr. Adgate was one of the early settlers of this county, coming here in 1840, and locating in Ionia township, near where is now the Tuttle cemetery. He was twice married, his first wife being Catherine Taft, by whom he leaves two surviving children, Chester, a resident of Berlin, and Luany, wife of Riley Harwood, of Berlin. After his wife’s death, he married Rosetta Briggs, of Campbell, by whom he leaves three surviving children, Wm. D., a farmer in Berlin, and Philo and Milo, twins of mature age, but unmarried and living on the homestead farm. His second wife died about five years ago. he also leaves one brother, William, of Ionia township. He was a man of estimable qualities, and naturally numbered among his friends a wide circle of neighbors.
