She came with her parents to Michigan in 1845. July 19, 1846 she was married to Gilbert Airs and for 38 years they traveled along life’s journey together, naturally sharing its joys and sorrows, its burdens of toil and care, then the husband died, leaving her in widowhood for twenty-one years, she was a mother of nine children, eight daughters and a son three of the daughters dying when very young. All of the children was present at her funeral except one daughter, Mrs. Ryan who was sick and not able to attend. She passed the most of the time in the home where Mr. Airs died. Coming as she did to Michigan when it was new and covered with forests her earlier years was filled with the toil and hardships ever incident to pioneer life how bravely and cheerfully her arduous tasks were performed, her many friends and neighbors can testify. She was converted and joined the M.E. church when 16 years old and often expressed a desire to enjoy its privileges. Twenty-one grand children and nine great grand children survives her and bear loving testimony to her kindness and worth. The summons came suddenly at last but we trust it found her ready she was in a semi-conscious state of mind from first to last, unable to leave any testimony, she must have heard the piteous appeals of her children pleading for some word to be spoken to them, for with expiring breath her mother love asserted itself and we knew she called her son then raised her arm and folded him in a last embrace and was gone. The funeral services were from the Keene M.E. church, the text being selected by sisters of the deceased from Rev. 4-1. In accordance with her request Rev. F.S. Hurlburt of Armada Macomb county, Mich., conducted the funeral services.
