Robert J. “Bob” Albert, 85, of Belding died Wednesday afternoon Feb. 13, 2008 
at Metron of Belding.

Bob was born near Belding on July 17, 1922 the son of Theodore and Margaret 
Feyan Albert.  He graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1940.  
Bob was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, active in the Hole Name 
Society and member of the National Rifle Association.  For many years Bob 
owned his own excavating business in the Belding area.  He had a true love of 
family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed deer hunting.  Bob also had a 
true love of nature, the changing seasons and enjoyed taking his grandchildren 
for walks in the woods.

He was married on Feb. 10, 1945 at St. Patrick Church to Mary Bieri and she 
survives along with their children, Barb (Marv) Smith of Westphalia, John 
(Sherry) Albert of Greenville, Sharon (Bill) Sutherland of Belding, Kathy 
Albert and Randy Preston of Grand Ledge, Beth (Dave) Quinley of Novi and Diane 
(Tim) DeBoer of Alto.  Bob is also survived by 17 grandchildren, nine great-
grandchildren, his sister and brother-in-law, Kate and Jim Byrne of Ionia, his 
sister-in-law Virginia Albert of Belding and several nieces and nephews.  Bob 
was preceded by his parents; his brothers Leo, Harold and Joe and his sister 
Marion.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic 
Church with Fr. Fred Brucker presiding.  Interment will be in St. Mary 
Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at John-
Feuerstein Funeral Home with a rosary prayed at 8 p.m.  Memorial contributions 
may be given to St. Mary Catholic Church or for a Mass.
