Stephen A. Aldrich, 80, died at 1:25 Thursday afternoon at the home of his son-
in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lovell Dewey of Hickory Corners, where he had 
spent the winter.  He was born August 10,1876 the son of William and Cordelia 
(Bennett) Aldrich.  Aldrich had lived most of his life in the Lake Odessa 
area.  He was married to Millie Steward of Lake Odessa June 9, 1896.

As a young man, when he came to this area, he was employed as a salesman for 
the McCormick Deering company by Claud Carpenter and later left Lake Odessa for 
a few years.  He went to the Delton and Richland area where he was a farmer for 
several years, returning to Lake Odessa in 1935.  Mr. and Mrs. Aldrich then 
resided on the farm home where Mrs. Aldrich was born and raised.

Mr. Aldrich was also a salesman for life insurance companies.  After returning 
to Lake Odessa, he was an implement salesman working for Carl Senters and later 
for the Lass Implement company.  When he retired due to his ill health, he was 
employed by the Youngs tractor sales.

Surviving besides his wife and daughter are two sons, Clayton of Lake Odessa 
and Andrew of Kalamazoo; one brother, Wallie Aldrich of Vermontville; six 
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Clarence Aldrich, city policeman 
is one of the grandchildren.  The body reposes at the Pickens funeral chapel 
where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30.  Burial will be in East 
cemetery at Hickory Corners.  The Rev. A. J. Pitman will officiate.
